JAMMU: Government Degree College (GDC) Hiranagar and GDC Akhnoor won their respective matches to move into the next round of the ongoing Inter-college (men’s) Cricket Tournament, organised by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu (JU), on the campus ground, here on Tuesday.
In the first match of the day, GDC Hiranagar registered a 36 runs win against Law School. Earlier, batting first, GDC Hiranagar set a target of 162 runs losing three wickets.
Munish and Gourav played superb innings of 60 (off 57 balls, 8×4) and 66 (off 51 balls, 7×8, 2×6) runs respectively. For Law School, Anil and Sohit bagged two and one wicket respectively.
In reply, Law Sc`hool could make only 125 runs for six wickets.
Viran and Shahrukh Khan were main scorers with 46 and 34 runs respectively. Anil bagged two wickets for Hiranagar while Sahil, Amit and Aashu shared apiece each.
Meanwhile, in another match of the day, GDC Akhnoor defeated GDC Ramnagar by 15 runs. Batting first, after winning the toss, Akhnoor was bowled out for 91 runs in 18.3 overs.
Vishal top scored with 18 runs while Amit and Sharvan added 16 runs each. Akshay bagged three wickets, followed by Sanjay and Vishal, who shared two each.
Later, GDC Ramnagar was bundled out for 76 runs in 17.3 overs, courtesy five wickets haul from Sunil Kumar. Pawan (32) and Vishal (18) were main scorers. Sachiv claimed two wickets for Akhnoor College.
Today’s matches were officiated by Raman Kumar, Suresh Singh, Raj Kumar, Salam-ur-Rehman and Vijay Dogra while Manu Khajuria was Scorer.
