JAMMU: NSS Unit of Government College of Education (GCOE), Canal Road, Jammu organised a seminar on the various issues of cleanliness under Swachhta Pakhwada to be observed from 1st to 15th August 2017.
Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College appreciated the efforts of Prof Sunita, NSS Programme Officer for taking the initiative of making the students aware about their responsibility towards the maintenance of clean and green environment for happy and healthy lives of future generations as cleanliness is next to godliness.
NSS Programme Officer, Prof. Sunita Devi formally welcomed the guests and gave detailed description of Swachhta Pakhwada activities. She expressed her concern over the increasing filth in the city and apprised the students about the consequences of unhygienic living.
Prof Anju Bala, Dean Student Welfare addressed the NSS volunteers and motivated them to maintain cleanliness. She also mentioned that lack of sanitation and hygiene has a far reaching ill impact on community’s health, livelihood and education.
Prof Purnima, Department of EVS apprised the students about the various issues of Swachhta. An oath (Swatchhta Pledge) was taken by the faculty members, NSS volunteers and the students of the college.
