GBHSS Udhampur clinches volleyball tourney

UDHAMPUR: Government Boys Higher Secondary School (GBHSS) Udhampur won the volleyball tournament organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Mini Stadium, here on Sunday.
In the final match, GBHSS Udhampur defeated HSS Garhi 2-0 and clinched the trophy.
Earlier in semifinal matches, GBHSS Udhampur defeated High School Battal Ballian and HSS Garhi outplayed Sharan Public School.
Earlier the tournament was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Sushil Kesar, Chief Executive Officer, IMPA in the presence of Guest of Honour, Pawan Kumar, Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO) Panchari. The opening ceremony was presided over by Santosh Kumari ZPEO Udhampur.
About 50 boys drawn from different rural schools of district Udhampur participated in the tournament.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest stressed upon the participants to take more part in sports activities to make themselves physically and mentally fit.
The Chief Guest distributed trophies to the winner and runner up teams.
The matches were officiated by Sanjeev Verma, Rakesh Swahney, Pushap Kumar, Romesh Chander, Ved Parkesh and Ranjeet Singh.
Among others present were Parminder Manhas, Som Raj, Jaswinder Singh, Sanjay Gupta, Manorama Gupta, Anju Bala and Kumari Nirmal.
