GBHSS Leh clinches Third Great Ladakh Quiz

LEH: Government Boys Higher Secondary School (GBHSS) Leh clinched the Third Great Ladakh Quiz Contest trophy on Friday. LAHDC Leh had been organising this contest since 2013 which was sponsored by KC Group of Institute, Nawnasher, Punjab.
Government Higher Secondary School Diskit Nubra was the winner of first and second contest.
This year GBHSS Leh won the contest with a margin of 10 points against Lamdon Senior Secondary School, Leh.
CEC LAHDC Leh, Rigzin Spalbar was the Chief Guest while EC Tourism Mohd Shafi Lassu was the Guest of Honour on the occasion.
Every year this mega quiz contest was hosted by the renowned TV anchor and Ambassador Deepak Vohra. The contest was held in Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra Ti-suru Leh.
In all, 17 Higher Secondary Schools including 14 government and three private schools had participated in the quiz competition.
A team of experts from Education Department, Cultural Academy and Central Institute of Buddhist Studies were involved in making this contest a great success by holding quiz competitions at different blocks across the district to get the final four teams.
A cash prize of Rs 5,000 was awarded to the wining team and cash prize of Rs 10,000 to the wining school by the CEC.
He appreciated the performances of every team and said that he felt delight to see great improvement in preparation level by the teachers and students. “The contest has caught up the imagination of the students and they seem to be devoting more time in polishing their general knowledge” said Spalbar.
He assured to make this contest more interesting and colourful in future by taking this contest to a higher level by inviting students from other districts to participate with the locals.
This event was attended by hundreds of school children, army officials, Chief Education Officer and officials of Education Department, District Institute of Education and Training, School principals and teaching staff members of various schools across Leh.
