Gautam Sharma of SMVD Gurukul secures 1st position in Sampurnanand University

KATRA: Master Gautam Sharma, student of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul, Charan Paduka, Katra has stood first in the university by securing the maximum marks in the class 8th examination conducted by the Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Varanasi, in May-June, 2016. For his outstanding achievement, Master Gautam has been awarded prestigious Vakratund Gold Medal by the Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya at its Convocation held on 26th December, at Varanasi. Master Gautam, son of Bishamber Dass, is a resident of Sainik Colony, Jammu.
Governor N. N. Vohra, Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board congratulated Master Gautam Sharma and the Senior Acharya, as well his team of Acharyas and teachers, on the spectacular performance of the Gurukul in the 8th class annual examinations conducted by the Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya from 2013 onwards.
Meanwhile, Pankaj Gupta, Administrator of the Gurukul informed that the award of Gold Medals for the toppers in Purva Madhyama (10th class) and Uttar Madhyama (12thclass) examinations of the Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, institutionalised by the Shrine Board on the directions of Governor N. N. Vohra, to encourage the outstanding students, were awarded, for the first time, at the 2016 Convocation of the University held on 26th of this month at Varanasi. These medals have been named ‘Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Swaran Padak’. It is pertinent to mention that for meeting the cost of the two gold medals to be awarded every year, on the instructions of Governor N. N. Vohra, a corpus fund has been created with Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya. The interest earned out of this corpus fund shall be utilised for preparing and awarding gold medals every year.
