Gaurav Gupta calls on National President Special Olympics Bharat in Delhi

JAMMU: Renowned sports enthusiast, barefoot marathon runner, and Secretary of Jammu Club, Gaurav Gupta, met with Malika Nadda, National President of Special Olympics Bharat during a meeting in Delhi , following his installation as the President of Special Olympics Bharat (SOB) for the Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory (JKUT).

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Ashwani Jojra, Founding President and current Area Director of SOB JKUT.
During the meeting, Gaurav Gupta laid out a comprehensive agenda focused on strengthening the Special Olympics movement across JKUT. He emphasized the importance of reaching out to underserved areas and communities to ensure the inclusion of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Gupta assured Mrs. Malika Nadda of his unwavering commitment to fulfilling the goals and vision of Special Olympics Bharat. He vowed to engage all sections of society and collaborate with like-minded organizations to provide a solid foundation for this noble mission. Highlighting the transformative power of sports, he expressed his determination to explore and nurture the hidden talents of persons with intellectual disabilities in the region.
“It is an honor and privilege for me to be part of such a global philanthropic movement, which operates in over 194 countries to enhance the dignity and lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities through sports. I am committed to working with zeal and devotion to achieve the set targets,” said Gaurav Gupta.
Malika Nadda expressed her full support for advancing the SOB movement in JKUT. She acknowledged the significant potential within regions of challenging topography and high-altitude areas, urging sincere efforts to identify and harness the talent of special athletes.
“The Special Olympics movement is a voluntary mission, and everyone willing to serve individuals with intellectual disabilities is welcome to join. With focused efforts, we can unlock the immense potential in states like Jammu & Kashmir and transform the lives of countless individuals,” said Malika Nadda.
Dr. Ashwani Jojra praised the inclusion of Gaurav Gupta in the SOB mission, expressing confidence in Gupta’s dynamic leadership and vast experience to elevate the movement to new heights. “Under the skilled leadership of Mrs. Malika Nadda and the energetic approach of Mr. Gupta, the Special Olympics movement in JKUT will undoubtedly achieve its ultimate goal of restoring smiles on the faces of special athletes, their families, and caregivers,” he stated.
The meeting concluded with a shared vision to expand the reach of Special Olympics Bharat in JKUT, ensuring that no individual with intellectual disabilities is left behind.
