JAMMU: A notorious gangster was injured in retaliatory police fire while his accomplice was also apprehended at Ring Road near Miran Sahib area. Acting on reliable sources, the Jammu Police set up a naka to intercept the gangsters identified as Daljot Singh alias Daljot Punjabi, resident of Dashmesh Nagar, Satwari, and Aman Singh alias Anu, resident of Kathua. The duo was reportedly armed and en-route from Samba to Jammu with the intent of targeting rival group members. The timely police action averted another rival gang war in Jammu.

When the police signaled the suspects to stop at Naka, they opened fire from their Bolero vehicle, prompting the police to retaliate in self-defense. In the ensuing exchange, Daljot Singh sustained injuries and was immediately shifted to GMC Jammu for medical treatment. His accomplice, Aman Singh, was also apprehended.
Police said these gangsters are linked to a recent firing incident in the Phallain Mandal area, where miscreants had targeted the vehicle of Arun Chaudhary before fleeing from the scene.
During the operation, the police recovered two firearms and ammunition from the crime scene. FIR 19/25 has been registered under relevant sections at Police Station Miran Sahib, and further investigations are underway to track down other members of the gang.
Senior police officials have reached the spot and are actively monitoring the situation. This marks the second such firing in the area within the past ten days, raising concerns about organised criminal activities in the region. Police has assured that efforts are being intensified to dismantle such syndicates and ensure public safety.
FIRs are already registered against Daljot Singh, son of Balvinder Singh, resident of Dashmesh Nagar, Digiana, Jammu include FIR 80/2024 under section 126(2), 115(2), 304(1) BNS, and 04/25 Arms Act, FIR 270/2024 – under section 109, 191(2), 115(2), 126(2) BNS, and 3/4/25 Arms Act and FIR 23/2025 – under section 109, 3(5) and 3/4/25 Arms act.
