Functioning of ICDS in Kupwara reviewed

KUPWARA: The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone who holds Additional charge of District Programme Officer(DPO) on Saturday convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the functioning of Integrated Child Development Services(ICDS) department.
During the meeting, It was informed that there are 2320 Anganwadi Centres (AWC) in 11 blocks of the district which are run by 7 Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) and 61 Supervisors.
It was given that 103 Anganwadi Centres are running in Government buildings and 2217 are running in rented buildings. Besides, 121 AWCs are under construction under MGNERGA Convergence.
The meeting was informed that procurement of nutrition is made by Procurement Committee consisting of concerned Panchayat Sarpanch and Supervisor of the AWC.
Besides, to ensure quality nutrition to AWCs, District Food safety officer Kupwara was directed to collect random samples of nutrition items from AWCs and send them to laborataries for analysis.
The ADC stressed upon the concerned officers to closely monitor the process of procurement of raw material and maintain quality hygiene of nutrition for smooth growth and development of the children.
The meeting was attended by District Food safety officer Kupwara, CDPOs of various Blocks and other concerned.
