Four die, three missing in Ramban accident

Srinagar: Four passengers died while three others are feared dead when a passenger vehicle fell into a deep gorge in Ramban District on Thursday, an official said.
SSP Traffic National Highway, Zubair Ahmad Khan told KNS that eight passengers were traveling from Shopian-Jammu in a Tata Sumo which fell into Bishlari Nallah in Ramban District. Eight people were onboard the vehicle, bearing registration number JK03 8881, when the accident took place. “One person identified as Haajat Mir, son of Naseer Mir, a resident of Chek-e-Syedpora Shopian, died on the spot while another injured, identified as Sikander Mir, resident of the same village succumbed to his injuries on the way to army camp hospital,” he said.
Reports said that the three missing persons who were washed away in the Nallah waters were identified as Abdul Rehman Mir, Mohammad Hussain Mir and Muhammad Ashraf Bhat. All the residents hail from Shopian District.
Meanwhile, reports said that one passenger who received injuries in the accident has been shifted to hospital for treatment.
Khan however told KNS that the National Highway is closed till yet while the rescue operation is still on to trace the missing persons.
Meanwhile, JKPCC Chief, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Peoples Democratic Front, Hakeem Muhammad Yasin and CPI (M) State Secretary and MLA Kulgam expressed grief over the loss of lives in the tragic accident.
