Four attempt suicide; two die

KATHUA/UDHAMPUR: In four separate cases two women were found hanging on Monday morning in district Kathua while two others survive the suicide attempts in Udhampur.
In the first case, an 18 years old girl identified as Anita Rani, daughter of Darshan Lal, resident of Ward No. 10, Kathua was found hanging in the fields. The police team from Police Station Kathua reached the spot and shifted her body to District Hospital Kathua for postmortem.
The body was later handed over to the parents of the girl after autopsy. A case has been registered under Section 174 RPC at Police Station Kathua for investigation.
In the second case, a 27 years old woman identified as Renu, wife of Ajay Kumar, resident of Azizpur, Kathua was found hanging at her residence in the morning. The police team from Police Station Nagri reached the spot and shifted her body to District Hospital and after postmortem her body was handed over to her family members.
In this case the parents of Renu alleged that their daughter has been murdered by her in-laws. The police has however registered the case for investigation.
Meanwhile a youth identified as Pawan Kumar, son of Devi Chand, resident of village Rengi in Tehsil Chenani took some poisonous substance in his house. On seeing him lying unconscious, he was shifted to Sub District Hospital Chenani where doctors further referred him to District Hospital Udhampur and is under treatment there.
In yet another case, a suicide attempt was made by Mohammad Bashar, son of Mohammad Salim, resident of village Kheri in Udhampur who also took poison in his house to end his life. He was shifted to District Hospital Udhampur but due to his critical condition he was further referred to GMC Jammu.
Police Stations of Chenani and Udhampur have registered cases for investigation.
