Form Mirpur, Muzaffarabad, Poonch scouts to counter terrorism: Chuni
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: SOS International exhorted upon the Central Government to constitute Mirpur, Muzaffarabad and Poonch battalion which will prove quite productive in countering terrorism along this side of Line of Control (LoC).
While addressing a rally at Maheshpura Chowk here on Sunday, SOS International Chairman, Rajiv Chuni said that presently, there is conflict between India and Pakistan and the said conflict can’t bring to an end till ages. He said that to tackle with the ongoing scenario of terrorist activities in State and country, Government must constitute three battalions i.e, Mirpur Scouts, Muzaffarabad Scouts and Poonch Scouts.
“The logic behind such a demand is that since youth of these areas from refugees are familiar with language, culture and topography will prove productive in countering terrorism along LoC. The move would also help the financial condition of PoK refugees’ youths by providing employment”, Chuni stated.
Chuni said that he welcomed the Central Government’s decisions for passing Rs 2,000 crore package for PoK refugees, besides he said that in no way, the said package should be considered as one time settlement package, adding that the struggle of SOS International will go on
until complete justice is achieved.
Chuni stated that State Cabinet had passed a package for PoK refugees including Rs 25 lakh per family, reservation in professional and technical colleges across the country for them, employment package for the unemployed youths in Government jobs etc but government hasn’t considered the State Government’s approval and now it has come with just a meager amount of Rs 2,000 crore instead of Rs 9,096 crore recommended by State Government in year 2014.
Chuni asserted that it has not been witnessed in the history that a community which is displaced for the last 7 decades has not been rehabilitated till today.
Chuni made a fervent appeal to all PoK refugees to get united to carry on the battle for its conclusion.
