Food, allied workers strike continues

JAMMU: Protest launched by the food and allied workers in main food stores at Jammu, entered into 11th day on Friday while similar protest was launched in Srinagar.
The protesting workers today took out protest rally from Food and Supply Office warehouse to Food and Supply Office at Jammu University Road amidst slogans in support of their demands.
They demanded revision of bag rates as per price index, enhancement of MWG at par with FCI pattern, release of pending payments to Muffasil workers, release of monthly wages by 10th of each month, timely deposition of contributions deducted from workers on account of PF, ESI and LIC, provision of listman for city supply, grant of city supply lead charges and implementation of pension scheme.
“If our demands are not conceded, the operations in all food stores across the State shall be struck,” President of Food and Allied Worker’s Union, Jammu and Kashmir, Bishan Dass warned. He also appealed to the government for lending immediate attention in resolving their demands.
