Flood affected people still deprived of relief: Shahnawaz

SURANKOTE: Continuing his mission in Surankote, Shahnawaz Choudhary, State President of Youth Congress visited various Panchayats including Chandimarh, Buffliaz, Marah, Chamraid (Topi), Draba, Kalar Katal, Gunthal, Sangla, Sanai, Nabna, Kolian, Bachanwali and Milhan in Surankote and distributed relief material among the flood victims.
Assessing the damage, Shahnawaz said that though the teams of government departments have visited every place in Surankote but if there is any grievance in the assessment process, the same will be highlighted at the appropriate platform for an early redressal.
At Chandimarh and Buffliaz, he reviewed the damages incurred by the bridges connecting Chandimarh with Dogran and Cholapur with Buffliaz which connects 36 villages.
At Chamrait (Topi) he took stock of damaged crops and the houses affected by landslides. People demanded exemption of electricity bills for the month when there was no electricity due to floods. Shahnawaz said that he has already taken up the issue with the administration.
At Gunthal, Milhan, Bachanwali and Nabna Panchayats he distributed relief material among the flood affected people.
Expressing his grief and sympathy over the loss of life and property in Surankote, he demanded that the government should provide immediate relief including tents, free ration, exemption of electricity bills besides repairing of the roads and bridges.
Shahnawaz Choudhary was accompanied by various Panchs, Sarpanchs, prominent citizens and youth leaders at different places.
