First Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Memorial Football Gold Cup;Guru Club Jalandhar to meet RCF Kapurthala in final today

JAMMU: Guru Football Club Jalandhar shall be playing against RCF Kapurthala in the final to defend the title trophy in the ongoing First Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Memorial Football Gold Cup, organised by State Sports Club in collaboration with J&K Bank and Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) at Mini Stadium Parade, here tomorrow.
Earlier in the first semifinal, played on Saturday morning, Guru Football Club Jalandhar defeated Shaheed Bhagat Singh Football Club by three goals to one in an easy contest. Jalandhar dominated the game throughout and made splendid moves to keep the opposition under pressure.
In first match, Member Parliament Rajya Sabha, Shamsher Singh Manhas was the Chief Guest while Ravinder Raina MLA Nowshera, Neelam Langeh MLA Ramban, Ramesh Arora MLC, Charangeet Singh Khalsa MLC and Vibodh Gupta MLC were the Guests of Honour.
The Special Invitees who witnessed the match were R.C Puri Secretary Red Cross, Neeraj Anand President Chamber of Trader Federation Jammu, Rajesh Gupta President Warehouse Nehru Market Federation, Chowdhry Vikram Ramdhawa President Stone Crusher Owners Association and Sanjay Mahey Ex Corporator.
In other semifinal, RCF Kapurthala got better of United Football Club Amritsar 2-1 in a close contest.
Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Minister of State for Education Priya Sethi and President Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Rakesh Gupta were the Guest of Honour besides Ex Minister, Government of India Chaman Lal Gupta, MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta, and other dignitaries were also present.
The special invitees in the second semi final were Rajesh Gupta President Market Association Narwal and Rajesh Jain President Association of Industries Gangyal.
Ganga said that the existing sports infrastructure would further be strengthened across the state for better results.
“Government is committed to provide better sports infrastructure across the State and many more stadia and playfields would be constructed in the State,” he added.
