Firing Neural Sparks: JKPS Kunjwani unlocks Artificial Intelligence potential in youth

JAMMU: In a remarkable initiative to introduce students to emerging technologies, JK Public School Kunjwani successfully conducted an artificial intelligence workshop on 31 May 2025 led by the distinguished AI expert Dr Jatinder Manhas. Mohsin Hassan, a tech enthusiast and a research scholar from Doda was the Guest of Honour. He has experience in Android App Development, Drone Technology, AI and Machine Learning.

The workshop was a dynamic blend of learning, innovation and inspiration designed to equip the students with fundamental knowledge in AI and its real-world applications.
Dr Manhas, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Information Technology at Jammu University and Associate Director of the Skill Incubation Innovation Entrepreneurship Development Centre, brought about his extensive research experience and global academic exposure to the session. With over 18 years in teaching and a portfolio of 95+ publications and four patents, the work shop was both deeply informative and engaging.
It was a hands-on, future forward learning experience. During the workshop ,students explored the basics of artificial intelligence, machine learning and computer vision through a series of structured activities, interactive discussion and live demonstrations.
Dr Manhas introduced students to real-world applications including AI powered Early Warning Systems for natural disasters, Emotional Recognition from brain, AI in healthcare diagnostics and smart microscopy, stock market prediction using machine learning Models, drone technology and autonomous systems.
The participants were guided through practical examples and engaged in critical thinking exercises that encouraged them to brainstorm on how artificial intelligence can be applied to solve every day problems. The session included introductory coding demonstrations, guiding students and giving them a glimpse on how AI models are trained and deployed
The Question Answer (Q/A) segment allowed students to pose questions directly to Dr Manhas who answered them calmly and with enthusiasm-motivating the students to consider future careers in AI, Data Science and Research.
“The level of enthusiasm and curiosity displayed by our students was really inspiring”, said Rajesh Rathore, Principal JK Public School, Kunjwani. He praised Dr Manhas saying “he had not only brought academic expertise but also a sense of possibility about how students could be a part of building the future with AI”.
The workshop concluded with the vote of thanks and felicitation of Dr Manhas. The event left a lasting impression on students. This workshop reflects a commitment of the school to expose the students to real world technologies, nurturing a passion for innovation, and fostering 21st-century skills in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) vision.
