JAMMU: Naïve as they are about the genesis of Kashmir crisis, some prominent politicians across the country have become hyper active in seeking ‘resolution of the problem’, especially after the latest spell of violence over killing of a ‘highly glamourised’ terrorist. Without offering any idea about the possible solution, they keep harping on talking to stakeholders, the main, according to them, being the separatists and Pakistan. This latest love-for-Kashmir needs to be seen in the backdrop of pro-Afzal Guru rants in Jawaharlal Nehru University and Jadhavpur University.
‘Hulla Bol’ and ‘Hum Kya Chahte Azadi, Burhan Wali Azadi’ like slogans in the premier varsities early this year seem to have set a tone for current Kashmir crisis, with friendly media giving a huge ‘build-up’ to the high-school drop-out Burhan Wani is new terror Avatar in the Valley, essentially to woo poor children, who are currently in command of the ‘Sangbaaz agitation’. Nearly 50 of them have unfortunately got killed and many others left with various disabilities in hospitals. The old generation of separatists is largely capitalising deaths and physical disabilities. Pakistan, on the other hand, is igniting the fire that has engulfed entire Kashmir. The ‘Azadi Brigade’ is rejoicing over Nawaz Sharief’s dream of ‘Kashmir Banega Pakistan’. These slogans being contradictory to each other do not matter for them and what matters’ is these being against the existence of India in Kashmir.
In such a vicious atmosphere, the autonomy card being played by P Chidambaram, the former Home Minister and plebiscite by Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia, a Congress MP speak of the change in the Kashmir Policy of the main opposition, which has ruled the country for better part of nearly 70 years since independence. Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi was among the first national leaders, together with Communists, who rushed to JNU to pat ‘hooligans’ preaching sedition while observing anniversary of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. Therefore, question arises whether or not JNU face-off in February this year was a prelude to what is happening in Kashmir now? The actors then active have become pro-active now when the unity, integrity and sovereignty are brazenly being challenged in Kashmir. The Congress and the Communists besides other pseudo secularists are trying to put the security forces in tight spot over ‘use of maximum force’ and ‘pellet guns’ on the ‘innocent’ Kashmiris. Nobody will approve of targeting the civilian population, especially in the Valley, which , in any case, goes to the benefit of terror sponsors and promoters but are the young lads who chase away uniformed personnel with stones, sticks and whatever comes their way, really innocent. This is a question, which the nation must ponder rationally.
How many leaders, blowing hot and cold over Kashmir situation, have expressed solidarity with the security personnel and the police, currently fighting well-conceived and well organized Intifada in most difficult situation? Such is the coordination between sponsors and promoters that not even a single picture or footage of ‘humiliating and targeting’ the Indian forces in streets of Kashmir is beamed by the so-called national media. Despite that nationalist Indian media remains biggest villain for the Delhi based pseudo intellectuals, activists and politicians.
CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yachury is highly pained over the situation in Kashmir, especially the ‘targeting of innocent’ citizens. He wants action against those security personnel who fired bullets on innocent civilians, according to a Srinagar based news agency. He wants All Party Meet to be convened by the BJP led NDA Government to discuss the situation and to initiate dialogue with all the stakeholders in Kashmir, inferring separatists and those spearheading Intifaada. He seems to be ignorant about situation on ground zero, where command is with teens, who believe the current spate of violence as ‘now and never’. Does the Communist leader want to speak to Hurriyat secessionists, whose hate for India and Indian forces is no more a secret? By projecting them as stake-holders, he conveniently ignores the foreign agenda they are pursuing by making young people as fodder of Pak cannons. Do Yachury and company believe Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar, Yasin Malik and their ilk to accept Kashmir as integral part of India? And, if they don’t, then should these pseudo politicians handover Kashmir in a platter to chronic secessionists, who are just death entrepreneurs; and the street urchins, who are pushing Pak mission in lieu of few bucks. Hasn’t this sprit and this motivation been guiding force behind ‘Burhan Wali Azadi’ rants raised in JNU and Jadhavpur University? If yes, the connection needs to be unfolded and exposed.
