Film show on environmental issues held at MIER College

JAMMU: To create awareness among the youth regarding environmental issues, the Environment Unit of MIER College of Education on Friday organised a film show under the Project National Environment Awareness Campaign (NEAC) 2014-15. A film entitled ‘Our Beautiful Planet’: The Impact was screened in the college auditorium. About 150 students of B.Ed Department along with the staff members watched the film.
Provided by the Centre for Science and Environment, a public interest research and advocacy organization, the film highlights the impact of climatic changes on oceans, glaciers, forests, mountains, agriculture, health etc. in different areas of the world. To consolidate the theme of the film, Monika Bajaj, Head, Environment Unit said that these days global climatic changes are occurring at a fast pace. Summers are becoming hotter, deserts are on the march and winters are shrinking. She urged upon the students to make judicious use of available resources and use environment friendly technology.
Dr. Renu Gupta, Director MIER appreciated the environment unit for creating environmental awareness and said that it provides power and understanding to identify human, material, space and time resources in the environment.
