Farooq raises issues of ration unavailability, bad roads

SRINAGAR: National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdulah on Thursday expressed disappointment and concern over the State of basic governance in Kishtwar and Poonch and said the administration cannot turn a blind eye towards its basic responsibilities towards the people.
Talking to NC Leaders MLC and Former Minister Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo and Former Legislator and Constituency In-charge Poonch Ajaz Jan who called on the NC President at his residence in Srinagar on Thursday, Dr. Farooq Abdullah asked the party leaders to remain at the service of people in their respective constituencies and ensure the redressal of their grievances by not allowing the administration to ignore their sufferings.
The NC leaders briefed Farooq about the organizational initiatives being taken to further strengthen the party in Kishtwar and Poonch and also highlighted matters of public concern in their respective constituencies. The NC Leaders informed the Party President that there was severe ration shortage in Kishtwar and Poonch and that the Administration had chosen not to alleviate this problem despite repeated pleas. The NC Leaders also informed the Party President about the dilapidated state of main and arterial roads in Kishtwar and Poonch and said people of the area face unimaginable problems every day due to dilapidated roads.
Farooq implored the administration to take effective and immediate measures to alleviate the ration shortage in Kishtwar and Poonch and demanded that the R&B Department assesses the damage to the roads in Kishtwar and Poonch and start work on them on a priority basis so that the people don’t suffer. He said the condition of roads in the entire State was shocking and the State Government till now had shown no resolve or intention to do something about this issue.
