Farooq, Omar, Mir greet people on Maha Shivratri

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Working President Omar Abdullah on Saturday greeted people on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri, which is celebrated as Herath by Kashmiri Pandits.
In his message, Dr Farooq Abdullah hoped that the festival would be celebrated in true spirit of the State’s composite culture and shall strengthen the bonds of amity and brotherhood between various communities.
Felicitating the people, former Chief Minister and Working President, Omar Abdullah said that this auspicious day embeds in it a rich cultural heritage. He hoped that the traditions of brotherhood and amity demonstrated by the people on this day through centuries will continue to inspire generations and help in building a harmonious society.
Meanwhile, Provincial President, Devender Singh Rana has also extended greetings on Maha Shivratri, saying this festival inspires people to strive towards the pursuit of truth which leads to the ultimate consciousness epitomized by Lord Shiva. He hoped the festival would be celebrated in a spirit of amity and brotherhood for which the State is known from times immemorial.
Extending hearty greetings to people of State particularly Pandit brethren of J and K on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri popularly known as ‘Herath’, JKPCC Chief G.A Mir has said that this auspicious occasion would remain an everlasting identity of cultural binding, age old tradition of brotherhood and togetherness of the State.
PCC Chief while extending hearty greetings to people said that festivals invigorate the tradition of brotherhood and communal harmony and this festival “Herath” would continue to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood between Pandit Brethern and Kashmiri brethren in the State, he said.
