JAMMU: Fareeda Mir, a former Member Legislative Council and a senior Congress leader died due to cardiac arrest at New Delhi this morning. She was 65. Soon after complaining of chest pain, she was rushed to All India Institute of Medical Sciences where she breathed her last.
Family sources told STATE TIMES that Fareeda Mir, wife of a noted forest lessee of the State, Mir Munir, had gone to New Delhi a few days ago to meet her son. Her body was brought to Jammu during the day and her mortal remains were laid to rest at Gujjar Nagar graveyard. A large number of people from various walks of life were present at the grave yard.
Fareeda Mir has been an active social worker and a political leader, who served as Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Red Cross Society for a brief tenure.
