Family members urge Govt to trace out victims of cloud burst

JAMMU: Nanika, urged the State Government to to trace out her husband, Rajesh, and others who are missing since 20th August, 2016 while on a visit to Mata Machail.
Talking to reporters Nanika, flanked by Rakesh, brother of Rajesh told reporters that Rajesh, son of Babu Ram, resident of Billawar, District Kathua who as a devotee of Mata Machail went on Yatra on 19th August 2016 got washed away in cloud burst on way to the Temple while going across Nallah at Jashini Bridge on 20th August at about 5:00 PM.
“Rajesh was accompanied by his friend namely Makhan Lal (Monu) who witnessed the incident and informed later my parents as well as in-laws and we are making strenuous efforts to trace him out but all in vain,” she said adding that her complaint has not been taken seriously.
She added that two girls who made an attempt to save them were also drowned in the Nallah due to cloud burst. She reminded the higher authorities of the State as well as Central Government the statement of Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh who assured full support to trace out Rajesh and others by providing help of NDRF/ army/ and also helicopter but till date nothing has been done.
She requested the administration to start registration of the pilgrimage to Machail Yatra like Mata Vaishno Devi or Haj Yatris to gather information about misplaced persons.
