JAMMU: A Division Bench of J and K High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Alok Aradhe on Wednesday granted week’s time to the State for filing fresh status report in the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking implementation of Court order dated 24th August, 2012 whereby the State was asked to set up Scrutiny Committee at division/district level to scrutinise social status certificates of reserved category.
After hearing Advocate S.M Choudhary appearing for the petitioner whereas Deputy Advocate General Vishal Bharti appearing for the State, the Court directed that if the State fails to file fresh status report, then Principal Secretary Social Welfare Department will have to appear in person.
The Court was hearing a PIL filed by former member of State Advisory Board for Development of Gujjars and Bakerwals Mohammad Anwar Choudhary against alleged issuance of fake ST category certificates and seeking implementation of aforementioned court order.
