FAA paper leak scam: CBI registers FIR; raids residences of KAS officer, 14 others

JAMMU: The Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) on Wednesday conducted raids at 14 locations in Jammu and Kashmir after registering fresh FIR for alleged irregularities in the examination conducted by Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) for recruitment of Financial Accounts Assistant (FAA) in the Finance Department.
The CBI has booked 20 people in this case, including Neelam Khajuria, former member of the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB), section officer Anju Raina and Dr Karnail Singh, who was then Medical Officer of the BSF frontier headquarters and also an accused in the J&K Police Sub-Inspector recruitment examination scam case.
The searches were conducted at the residences of Dr. Karnail Singh, the then Medical Officer, BSF Frontier Hqrs, Paloura; Ashwani Kumar; Ashok Kumar, the then ASI in the J&K Police; Roshan Bral working as ReT teacher; MeritTrac Services Private Limited, Bengaluru; Neelam Khajuria, JKAS, the then Member, JKSSB; Anju Raina, the then Section Officer, JKSSB; Mukta Devi; Lakshmi Sharma; Mukesh Kumar; Shubam Patyar; Manisha Kumari; Avinash Sharma; Bandana Sharma; Gurjeet Kour; Bandana Choudhary; Rajinder Makhnotra; Gurpreet Singh; Kulwinder Singh; Harpal Singh and unknown officials and others.
The examination was conducted by the JKSSB on March 6 and its results were published on April 21.
The results showed a high percentage of selected candidates from the districts of Jammu, Kathua and Reasi, leading to allegations of paper leak and other irregularities.
“There were allegations regarding malpractices in the examination and the Government of Jammu and Kashmir constituted an inquiry committee to look into the same. The report of the committee revealed the alleged conspiracy amongst officials of JKSSB, a private company based in Bengaluru, beneficiary candidates and others causing gross irregularities in the conduct of the said examination,” the spokesperson said. It was also alleged that JKSSB violated rules in assigning the task of setting question paper to the Bengaluru-based private company, they said. CBI
