Excise Deptt maintains 16 pc growth in revenue realisation

JAMMU: The Excise Commissioner J and K, Tsering Angchuk took Annual Revenue Review Meeting of various officers of Excise and Taxation Department in the Excise and Taxation Complex, here on Saturday.
The over-all growth scenario of the revenue receipts of the department for the month of February and total revenue realised till the month of February for the financial year 2015-16 was discussed threadbare and examined critically.
It was noticed in the meeting that the revenue realisation of the department is going in an upward direction viz-a-viz revenue targets fixed for the department for the financial year 2015-16. The total revenue realised by the Excise Department during the month of February 2015-16 has been recorded to the tune of Rs. 93.98 crore in comparison to Rs 75.74 crore realised during January, 2014-15. Upto the month of February, 2015-16, the department has realised an amount of Rs. 1,056.15 crore as against Rs. 906.83 crore upto the month of January, 2014-15.
The Excise Commissioner appreciated the efforts made by the field functionaries for maintaining the consistent growth of sixteen per cent in revenue realisation.
At Toll Post Lakhanpur there has been an increase of 30.37 per cent in revenue realisation during the month of February 2016 and 17.30 per cent upto the period 29th February 2016. The Distillery Wing has achieved 91.65 per cent of the target fixed for the current financial year and the Excise Wing has achieved 94.84 per cent of the target fixed for the current financial year. The Distillery Wing of the Department has done exceedingly well and during the month of February, 2016, an increase of 13.31 per cent has been recorded and upto February, 2016, an increase of 8.22 per cent has been recorded.
The Excise Commissioner appreciated the efforts made by all wings of the department towards collection of taxes/duties for the State and stressed for making entire efforts not only to achieve the desired targets but to surpass the targets.
On the front of eradication and enforcement activity, the Excise Commissioner appreciated the comprehensive drive launched by the Excise Department to arrest the menace of illegal smuggling of liquor, illicit distillation and other violations of the J and K Excise Act, 1958. It was appreciated that during the last month, approximately sixteen tons of Lahan was destroyed by the various excise teams in Jammu Division.
All the Deputy Excise Commissioners and Excise and Taxation Officers were present in the meeting.
