Excise Deptt destroys 1,400 Kg Lahan

KATHUA: Excise Department on Monday destroyed 1400 kilograms of Lahan and recovered 25 pouches and five bottles of illicit liquor while conducting raids in Kathua District.
The raid was conducted under the supervision of Excise Commissioner, Mohammad Javed Khan and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu, Ghanshyam Singh, the excise team led by ETO Excise Range Kathua, Sandeep Gupta, ETO Eradication Wing Jammu, Suraj Chander Singh along with Inspectors Arun Kumar and Shadi Lal, Sub Inspector Prashant Mathur raided Budhi, Saktachak, Dhabwal, Mirpur Jaggu, Dadoli, Sumwan and Persochak villages of Kathua District to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.
In the process, more than 1,400 kilograms of Lahan, one working still, 25 pouches and five bottles of illicit liquor were recovered by the raiding team from the State land. The excise team destroyed 1,400 Kgs Lahan on the spot.
Meanwhile, excise team arrested one bootlegger and recovered 45 pouches of liquor from his possession while conducting raids in Village Phinder at RS Pura.
The bootlegger has been identified as Shamsher Lal son of Inder Dass, resident of Laswara. According to reports, Shamsher was selling J&K Excise Liquor Pouches (Fruitis) on Main Road Phinder and recovered 45 pouches of liquor from him.
A case was registered under Excise Act at Police Station Miran Sahib.
The police party headed by Surinder Choudhary, SDPO R S Pura assisted by Inspector Pawan Kumar SHO P/S Miran Sahib under the close supervision of SP HQ Romesh Kotwal.
