Excise Deptt arrests two persons, destroys 300 Kgs Lahan

JAMMU: The Excise Department on Friday arrested two persons including one woman under J&K Excise Act and destroyed 300 kilograms of Lahan.
On the directions of the Excise Commissioner, Mohammad Javed Khan and supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu, Syed Muried Hussain Shah, the excise team led by ETO South Range, Rohit Sharma along with Inspector Ritesh Gupta and Sub Inspectors Balwan Singh and Vikas Khajuria conducted a series of raids in Bishnah and RS Pura Excise Ranges at Villages Kotli Mian Fateh, Kotli Charkan, Deoli, Makhanpur, Salehar, Dablehar, Tarachak, Kothey Bulandae, Lalyana, Pandorian, Chak Majra, Joian, Sheikhupura and Shibuchak to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.
During the course of raids, two persons namely Jeet Raj, son of Kousal Ram, resident of Salehar and Ayodhya Devi, widow of Bachan Lal, resident of Joian were arrested and booked under Section -48 of J&K Excise Act. Four bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from their possession. Besides this, about 300 Kgs of Lahan and six bottles of illicit liquor made from Lahan were recovered by the raiding team from the State land. The excise team destroyed the recovered Lahan on the spot. s
