Excise Department J&K celebrates International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

JAMMU: The Excise Department of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday marked the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking with a series of engaging events, including a volleyball match, painting competition, and Nukkad Natak (street play).
These activities were organized to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and promote a drug-free society.
The events saw enthusiastic participation and were graced by Excise Commissioner Pankaj Sharma and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive) Sukriti Sharma.
In his address to the youth, Excise Commissioner Pankaj Sharma highlighted the severe problems caused by drug abuse.
He stressed the crucial role of community involvement in combating this issue and encouraged everyone to work together towards a drug-free society.
“Our fight against drug abuse requires a collective effort. By participating in these events, you are helping to spread the message of a healthier, drug-free life,” he said.
The Nukkad Natak vividly depicted the adverse effects of drug abuse, leaving a strong impact on the audience. The painting competition allowed participants to express their thoughts and creativity on the theme of a drug-free world, while the volleyball match fostered teamwork and healthy living.
The activities engaged the community and reinforced the department’s commitment to raise awareness and supporting those who are affected by drug abuse.
