Erring handicraft traders fined

JAMMU: As per the Direction of Director Handicrafts Ganjafer Ali and Development Officer (Tex.), Deepika Rana, Pardeep Kumar Choudhary, Technical Assistant (Quality Control Wing) along with Police Team of Police Station Hari Market, Jammu carried out inspection of handicrafts dealers at Hari Market and found that most of dealers are unregistered with the Directorate of Handicrafts (Quality Control Wing) under Tourist Trade Act 1978/82 and selling fake items of handicrafts in the name of Kashmir handicrafts to pilgrims.
In order to avoid cheating with pilgrims an amount of Rs. 4,500 as a fine has been imposed to different erring and unregistered dealers. The departmental team also requested the association of Hari Market for asking the dealers to get registered themselves with Directorate of Handicrafts (Quality Control Wing) under Tourist Trade Act 1978/82.
