Commending the District Administration’s efforts in implementing welfare programmes and ensuring progress over the last 100 days, the Lt Governor said that government-sponsored schemes are essential for equitable growth, particularly in underdeveloped and marginalised regions. He stressed the importance of spreading awareness among youth, women, and artisans about these schemes to help them enhance their livelihoods and achieve self-reliance.
“Not everyone can be provided with a government job; hence, the focus should be on skill development and self-employment,” the Lt Governor remarked, encouraging youth to explore opportunities under central schemes such as PMEGP and PMFME. He highlighted that 70 entrepreneurs have already benefited under these schemes and 30 loan cases were recently sanctioned, reflecting the administration’s commitment to public welfare and economic empowerment.
Gupta also launched the e-portal of the ‘Aspiration to Inspiration – From Block to District’ initiative, terming it a step toward digitisation, innovation, and self-reliance at the grassroots level. He lauded the proactive approach of the District Administration and the progress achieved across key sectors including agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, and health.
Earlier, the Lt Governor, accompanied by CEC LAHDC Kargil Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, MP Ladakh Mohammad Hanifa Jan, and other dignitaries, visited stalls set up by beneficiaries and interacted with them to review ground-level implementation of government schemes.
Dr. Akhoon praised the initiative for strengthening grassroots governance, while MP Hanifa Jan appreciated the campaign’s role in increasing awareness about welfare schemes. Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar and General Manager DIC Kargil also briefed the gathering on the achievements of the Jan Hit Campaign. The event concluded with the distribution of sanction letters, certificates, and awards among achievers, marking a milestone in Ladakh’s journey toward inclusive and sustainable growth.
