Enforce Motor Vehicle Act, Rules: IGP Traffic

SRINAGAR: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Traffic, Jagjit Kumar on Friday convened a meeting of the officers of Traffic Police City Srinagar with the aim to strengthen traffic enforcement and regulation mechanism to give further impetus to the working. The meeting was attended by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic City Srinagar, Sargun Shukla, Dy SPs, DTIs and SOs of Traffic City Srinagar.
Addressing the meeting, IGP Traffic stressed upon the officers to take all necessary measures to smoothen flow of traffic in City Srinagar by strictly enforcing the Motor Vehicle Act and Rules with zero tolerance against visible offences. He further stressed upon the officers to exhibit high sense of responsibility and behavior while dealing with the traffic violators and made it clear to the officers of stern action against any complaint of misbehavior and malpractice.
Jagjit Kumar in his deliberations with the officers sought assurances from the officers for a visible change on ground with a people friendly attitude and ensured that technology oriented gadgetry and other implements would be provided to the traffic officers for traffic regulation and enforcement in the near future. He took a note of the grievances of the officers and ensured early redressal. He pointed out some avoidable traffic inconveniences and directed the officers to exhibit high sense of responsibility by studying different situations and dealing strictly with the violators involved in wrong stops, visible offences and un-necessary hurdles in smooth flow of traffic.
