Energy Conservation Day: MIER College conducts interactive session

JAMMU: MIER College of Education as a part of Energy Conservation Day on Monday conducted an interactive session for staff and students.
About 100 students of Environment Education Unit of MIER College of Education participated in the session which was chaired by Dr. P.L Koul, OSD MIER.
In-charge Environment Unit, Monika Bajaj initiated the session said, “Energy is the most important component of our life and we cannot afford to waste this essential resource. Hence we all should device and implement ways and means to conserve it. She also extended a warm welcome to all present.”
The students put forth their views on the conservation of energy resources. They urged the audience to use practical measures to conserve energy like not to iron wet clothes, use timer facility to save energy, use car pooling system, not to overload the appliances and to get all appliances serviced from time to time, replacing of old appliances, use of rechargeable batteries etc.
Dr. Koul said that we must conserve energy for sustainable development and should use the resources judiciously otherwise all energy resources will be exhausted. He also added to the suggestions given by the participants. Dr. Koul urged the students and staff of MIER to take a pledge to use public transport or bicycle at least once in a month.
Director MIER Group of Institutions, Dr. Renu Gupta appreciated the initiatives taken by the Environment Unit to spread awareness about pertinent environmental issues.
