“Empty chairs mock at leaders” Leaders outnumber workers at BJP’s Vikas Sushasan Sankalp Rally
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Grappling with the embarrassing situation unfolded by Mehbooba Mufti in delaying the government formation, State unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday had a shock to find empty chairs at venue of ‘Vikas Sushasan Sankalp Rally’ organised at Geeta Bhawan by Jammu East Mandal.
While just a couple of chairs were occupied by some, who too remained distracted about the happening on the podium, the empty audience enclosure kept worrying the leaders. Disappointingly waiting for workers to throng the venue and occupy their seats, the BJP leaders ultimately stood up, making a chain of themselves with hands raised. One of the onlookers hilariously remarked, “The number of leaders is more than the workers”
And, when some of the leaders took up the mike, no one in the audience seemed interested. While some were busy with their mobile sets, many kept looking here and there or gossiping.
Amidst poor response in the rally, the party leaders were felicitated by offering Dogra Turban and Shawls on their arrival at the rally organised under the leadership of local MLA Rajesh Gupta and Mandal President Prof. Sham Lal Gupta.
BJP MLC and former State President Ashok Khajuria, while addressing the gathering, said that during the ten month period of PDP-BJP coalition in J&K, the state witnessed new era of development and progress but the opposition parties like Congress and NC cannot digest the same and hence its leaders have unleashed a misinformation campaign to mislead the people. He said that the Congress in particular first need to explain what it did for Jammu during the decades when it was in power and why now it is shedding crocodile tears. He said that the BJP works on the principle of Antodya, Vasudeva Kutumbh, uniformity and equality. He said that we have proved our concern for Jammu time and again and we do not need any certificate from opposition parties.
BJP State General Secretary Dr. Narinder Singh briefed the gathering about various schemes and projects launched by Narendra Modi government with a sole motive of overall development and welfare of all the sections of the society without any regional bias.
Rajesh Gupta, while highlighting the works in Jammu East constituency said that the multi-storey parkings in different areas, construction of new toilets, 80 per cent black topping of roads and lanes, renovation of Mubarakh Mandi complex, beautification of Dogra Chowk, establishing Children park in Vikram Chowk and getting the decision to shift Bus stand cancelled are few achievements of one year. He said that his dream is to develop Jammu East as Model Constituency and is working to achieve the same for it.
Chander Prakash Ganga said that the real development comes true only when each family has access to food, health facilities, education and security and our coalition government did a lot to achieve this type of development. He also spoke about the mega projects related to setting up of industries and creating new jobs for unemployed youth.
Priya Sethi highlighted schemes meant for women and said that Narendra Modi government took initiative to encourage the families to promote female birth by assuring to take responsibilities of each girl born from January 2015 onwards.
