Embezzlement of 501 quintals of ration: TSO Gandoh held, more arrests likely

BHADARWAH: After nine months long investigation, Gandoh Police on Tuesday arrested Tehsil Supplies Officer (TSO) of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department after he was found involved in embezzlement of ration worth lakhs meant for public.
According to reports, the arrest was made in the course of a investigation that has been going on since April last year. The Gandoh Police is investigating a large embezzlement case involving CAPD Department Gandoh for black marketing several tones of ration in open market meant for poor public.
SDPO Gandoh Sunny Gupta said that TSO Gandoh Suresh Kumar was today arrested in a case of embezzlement registered at Police station Gandoh under FIR No: 27/16 Under Section 409,120-B RPC as his involvement was established after a prolonged investigation by SHO.
” Some more arrests are expected within a couple of days, but we cannot divulge the details of the others involved in the scam as it can hamper the investigation which has reached a crucial juncture,” SDPO Gupta added.
Investigation officer, SHO Gandoh, Tahir Khan said that, we summoned the accused TSO several times but he did not cooperated and was absconding since last couple of months.
It is notable to mention that on 17th of April 2016, Gandoh Police seized 501 quintals of wheat and Rice in 1002 bags of CAPD ration from two private shops at Bhatyas in Chilly Pingal Tehsil of Distt Doda and an FIR No 27/2016 was lodged and a case was registered under section 409,120-B RPC at Police Station Gandoh. Storekeeper Abdul Rashid was arrested but was later released on bail.
Meanwhile people of Bhalessa have appreciated police action and said this will go a long way in curbing the menace of black marketing of ration and Kerosene meant for poor public, who are totally dependent on CAPD supply.
