Election observer inspects expenditure records at Reasi

REASI: Expenditure Election Observer Mukesh Kumar on Thursday conducted inspection of expenditure records. During inspection of records he met representatives of various political parties and nodal officer Election Expenditure Cell Shiv Kumar Gupta and Returning Officer 58 Reasi Tilak Raj Sharma.
Kumar disclosed that each candidate has to submit poll expenses three times, in accordance with a schedule fixed by the returning officer, from the date of nomination to the date of polling. The register will be compared with the expenditure records maintained by the candidates. “For peaceful polling and to keep a tab on expenditure made by candidates, assistant expenditure observers would monitor the election expenses of candidates, failing which displinary action will be taken against the candidate, he said.
It was of first of three inspections to be carried out by the Expenditure Monitoring Cell in the presence of Expenditure Election Observer, whereas second inspection will be carried on 26th November, and third inspection on 1st December.
Kumar said several check posts had been set up to inspect vehicles used for campaigning during elections. Flying squads have been formed for keeping vigil on election campaigns and expenses in the district, he said.
During the meeting, the representatives of various political parties raised issues related to installation of election symbol, party flags and banners, which was responded by the Expenditure Election Observer.
