SRINAGAR: The Election Commission (EC) of India has announced holding of bye election to fill up the vacancy of Anantnag Assembly Constituency which fell vacant due to the passing away of former Chief Minister, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.
According to the EC, the date of issue of notification is 25th May, 2016, last of filing of nomination papers 1st June,2016, date of scrutiny of nomination papers 2nd June, 2016, last date of withdrawal of nomination papers 4th June, 2016. Elections, if, necessary, would be held on 19th June, 2016 and votes would be counted on 22nd June, 2016.
Accordingly, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force from 21st May, 2016 in Anantnag District.
