Elect Cong candidates for strong, vibrant Jammu: Sham

AKHNOOR: Reiterating his commitment to serve the people of Jammu region with pride and without compromising the dignity of Duggar land, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma has said that people of Jammu region must show a united face to get their equal share in the development. He also urged the likeminded political parties to rise above the petty political gains and fight for the equality of the people of the region which have suffered step motherly treatment since independence.
Underlining the role of the Congress Party in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, the minister said that as and when the party was in the helm of affairs, the State got equal treatment in all fields and progressed tremendously. But, during the tenures of other parties, the Jammu region remained victim of maltreatment and discrimination in all fronts. The people of this region continued to suffer for want of basic facilities like education, power, road connectivity, medicare, as focus of successive governments remained in the Kashmir Valley. But, now the trend has been changed and no such discrimination will be allowed in future. For all this, the people of the region have to be vigilant and develop a strong and visionary leadership who can safeguard their interests in the governments, added Sham.
Addressing a series of election meetings in Akhnoor Constituency, the minister asserted that during the current tenure of the government, he fought for the cause of Jammu people till last moments.
“People are well aware that I single handedly fought for the regularisation of daily rated workers and ultimately fell prey to the conspiracy of some of the NC Ministers who sabotaged the issue and compelled me to resign from the ministry”. He asked the people to elect maximum candidates from the Congress Party so that it can form the government independently for making Jammu more vibrant and strong.
Sham stated it is only Congress which can guard the honour of the people of Jammu as it has proved in rest of the country where it has ruled for over five decades. He said Congress Party has a strong and secular foundation as its leaders have given numerous sacrifices for the unity and integrity of nation besides played pivotal role for achieving the independence.
He asked the people to strengthen the hands of Congress and support his candidature from the Akhnoor Constituency.
The election meetings were addressed at villages Gurah Balle-Da-Bagh, Sungal, Raja Chack, Pangyari and Akhnoor town. Several Sarpanchs, Panchs, prominent citizens and local Congress leaders accompanied the minister.
