Eid celebrations; DGP for keeping vigil on anti-social elements

SRINAGAR: Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar asked the concerned police officials to sensitise the places and install CCTV cameras at the vital locations, where the congregational prayers will be held during Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, to keep vigil on the activities of anti social elements.
“Additional men and machinery should be kept available to deal with any situation” he said while reviewing the deployment arrangements at different places in the State during Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, in a meeting at Police Control Room (PCR) here on Monday.
The meeting also discussed law and order situation and other arrangements put in place. The meeting was attended by senior officers from police, CRPF, civil administration and intelligence agencies.
Addressing the meeting, Rajendra stressed for maintaining law and order, besides providing a congenial atmosphere to the people so that they could observe the festival without facing any inconvenience.
“People’s security is our prime concern and all resources should be utilised to make the celebrations peaceful,” he said.
Situation should be assessed by the concerned supervisory officers and required arrangements should be taken to foil any untoward incident, said Rajendra.
Officers present in the meeting including ADsGP S.M Sahai, Dilbag Singh, L Mohanti, IGP Traffic, Viplav Kumar, range DIsGP, SSP Srinagar briefed the DGP about the deployment and traffic plan for the Eid celebrations.
IGP Kashmir Zone, SJM Gillani said that all arrangements have been put in place to ensure law and order across the Valley so that Eid prayers conclude peacefully, besides other celebrations.
DGP also asked the officers to formulate a comprehensive traffic plan in major cities so that the busy markets and places remain hussle free.
He also asked to cooperate with the civil administration and other stakeholders to make the arrangements successful. Market checking along with the concerned officers of civil administration should be conducted to curb black-marketing and overcharging, he said adding that strict action under law should be taken against the persons indulging in malpractices.
