Educational institutions celebrate Raksha Bandhan

JAMMU: Raksha Bandhan- a day of celebrating the bond of love shared between brother and sister was celebrated in various educational institutions here.


May Fair Schools Chand Nagar, Chinore and Janipur Branches celebrated Raksha Bandhan to educate children about the significance of the festival. Students of different classes participated in Rakhi and kite making competitions and were honoured with medals and certificates.
In kite making, the gold medal was won by Devinder Singh of class 7th, silver by Arun Rathore of class 6th and bronze medal was won by Rohit Choudhary of class 5th.
In Rakhi Competition, gold medal was won by Suraiya of class 5th, silver by Janvi of class 6th and bronze medal was won by Janvi Devi of class 3rd.
“Festivals are an integral part of Indian culture and we want to teach children the importance of our traditions and the value of religious tolerance by celebrating them in school”, said Abhey Basur, Director May Fair Schools.


Delhi Public School Kathua celebrated Raksha Bandhan with army jawans who were invited to the school by the Principal, Nirmal Mahna.
Girls of the school tied handmade Rakhis on the wrists of army jawans. The objective of this celebration was to acknowledge the role and the sacrifices of the soldiers through a warm gesture of tying Rakhis.
The celebration culminated with the joyful moments of dance by army jawans along with the school children.
President Sahodya School Complex, Jagdish Dhami, Principal Heritage School Jammu was also present who appreciated the sacrifices of army jawans and efforts of the school for celebrating such a pious festival in this way.
Jammu Sanskriti School Kathua organised Rakhi making competition in the school premises, in which little Sanskritians of Prep Class participated and made beautiful Rakhis.

The girl students tied Rakhi to boys and share chocolates and sweets. Later, the students participated in a Rakhi making competition, following which the Rakhi made by the student were displayed.
Principal Shuchita Gupta enlightened the importance of Rakhis and the bond of brother and sister relationship. She said that many students tied Rakhis on plants and trees as a pledge to protect them for a healthy environment and these competitions helped children to develop their creativity among students.
On the eve of Raksha Bandan, a Rakhi making competition was organised in the Primary Wing of Vishwa Bharati Public Higher Secondary School Akalpur, here. The little angles from class 1st to 5th exhilaratingly participated and created Rakhis exhibiting their manual dexterity and creativity. The competition was organised by Ashok Koul of Department of Fine Arts. The participants were given prizes as per their performance:
Class 1st: Tejashvi 1st, Lovish 2nd and Sonakshi 3rd. Class 1st B: Tanveer 1st, Sayam 2nd and Bupin 3rd. Class 2nd A: Bhumika 1st, Yogita 2nd and

Aman 3rd. Class 2nd B: Krish 1st, Baibhav 2nd and Purvi 3rd. Class 3rd A: Paras 1st, Rudhra 2nd and Ayush 3rd. Class 3rd B: Raksha 1st, Daksh 2nd and Janvi 3rd. Class 4th A: Mansi 1st, Saksham 2nd and Ayush 3rd. Class 4th B: Navdeep 1st, Yuvraj 2nd and Netaish 3rd. Class 5th A: Mahi Sharma 1st, Komakshi Raj 2nd and Karan 3rd. Class 5th B: Mansi Bhardwaj 1st, Payal Bhardwaj 2nd and Simran Bachloo 3rd.
School Principal, Prof. Annapurna Koul admired and encouraged the little angles for making such captivating Rakhis.
SD Tara Puri School organised a drawing competition, Rakhi making and kite making competition among the students from Class 1st to 9th on the eve of Raksha Bandhan and Janamashtami. Beautiful Rakhis and kites were made by the students.
Drawing competition was held among the students of class 1st to 3rd while Rakhi making competition was among the students of class 4th to 9th and Kite making competition was held among the boys of class 8th and 9th. The efforts and hard work of the children was applauded by the principal and she also thanked the parents for their co-operation.
