JAMMU: Krishna Janmashtami, marks the birth of Lord Krishna, was celebrated with great zeal and pomp by various educational institution, here on Friday.
Prep Wing of MV International School organised a cultural fiesta to celebrate Janamashtami. Children dressed up as Krishna, Radha and Gopiyan enticed the auditions by their mesmerising chantings of Bhajans.
They danced to the steps of Mukanda dance as well as the famous number of “Madhuban mey jo Kanhiya”, little Krishna and Radha, took to the stage by a confident Ramp walk.
Hira Lal Abrol, Chairman and Savita Abrol, Vice Chairperson were the guests of the day.
Chairman highlighted importance of Janmashtami celebration and shared the essence of Bhagwat Gita with the audience. An exhibition of the recent art work of the Prep School children was put in discipline, which was highly appreciated by everyone. K.L Dogra, Principal MV International School, presented the vote of thanks.
Jammu Sanskriti School Kathua celebrated the pious festival of Krishna Janamashtami with great religious fervour in the school auditorium. Students came dressed in Krishan and Radha outfits. They wore peacock head gears and decorated Matkis and flutes. School was decorated colorfully with Jhankis depicting the birth place of Lord Krishan.
Students of pre-nursery class recited poems. Little Sanskritians expressed their feelings with ease and comfort with other listeners. All the listeners were mesmerised and awestruck by the confidence exhibited by the students as they recited poems results of the competition were announced immediately.
Varinda Sharma secured first position, Harshita secured second position, Eklavya and Aarush Soodan secured third position.
Students of 1st to 9th also took part in various activities like dance, music, speech narration, Jhoola making and Matki decoration.
The School Principal, Shuchita Gupta said to celebrate such occasions actually connects us with our culture i.e, Sanskriti and also enlightened the importance of Krishna Janamashtami.
Delhi Public School (DPS) Jammu organised a special assembly to celebrate festival of Janamashtami. The assembly began with the school prayer followed by a mesmerising song by the school choir depicting the different childhood stages of Lord Krishna.
SOS Hermann Gmeiner School celebrated Independence Day and Janmashtami in the school campus. The students participated in a variety of programmes including dance, speeches, songs etc. The students can in attire of Lord Krishna and Radha. Aarti and Bhajans were recited and songs related to Janmashtami and Independence Day were played. Principal R.K Dhar greeted the students and staff. The program was coordinated by Sangita Mattoo.
Vishwa Bharati Public Higher Secondary School, Akalpur, celebrated Independence Day and Janamashtami with patriotic and religious enthusiasm.
Members of the School Governing Board J.L Koul, Dr. S.K Koul, Prof. A.N Sadhu and Dr. O.P Razdan alongwith Prof. Sunita Kampassi Principal Vishwa Bharati College of Education, teaching faculty and students were present.
J.L Koul Vice President Vishwa Bharati Women’s Welfare Institute was the Chief Guest. The programme initiated with Vidyalaya song ‘Vishwa Bal Balika’ which was followed by welcome address by Susham Chib Department of English.
On the eve of these specific days, students delivered various speeches and displayed cultural items on the stage.
Group dance on Vande Mataram and Radha Ko Shyam Yaad Aa Gaya enthralled everyone in the auditorium. The patriotic songs created an upsurge of nationalism in each and everyone. The tiny tots of primary wing presented a fancy dress competition by transvesting as Radha, Krishna, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Neta Ji, Jahnsi Ki Rani, Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev.
School Principal Prof. Annapurna Koul advised the students to follow the preachings of Shrimad Bhagwat Gita and work hard to serve their nation like freedom fighters.
J.L Koul traced the history of freedom struggle and the contributions of the freedom fighters who sacrificed for their nation. He asserted that young generation should also follow their footsteps and live and work for their country with abundance of devotion and dedication.
The cultural items were prepared by Ramesh Kalotra and Rajinder Singh Saini Department of Music and Dance.
On this great day the school authority also honoured some of its employees and gave awards for their excellence in service regarding the upliftment of the school. The awardees were Pamposh Nehru Maths Teacher, Anju Kilam Computer Accountant, Pushpa Koul Nursery Teacher, Kulwant Sharma Driver and Chander Shekher IV class employee.
Whole programme was anchored by students Krishna Gupta, Vinayak Razdan and Narmita which came to conclusion with vote of thanks by Uttama Punjabi.
J and K Police Public School saluted the nation on the eve of its 71st Independence Day here in the school premises. Students sang patriotic songs and enacted one act play.
Students also celebrated the birth of Lord Krishna. Children from Primary Wing dressed in fancy clothes resembling mythological characters singing songs and performing dance added to the religious fervour of the auspicious day.
The students enacted scene the Raslila to recreate incidents from the life of Shri Krishna and his love for Radha.
Principal, Sanjeev Pradhan encouraged the students by giving away prizes for Rakhi and Card Making Competitions held previously.
The pious festival of Janmashtami was celebrated with religious fervour at May Fair Schools.
Playing flute, having a bowl of butter and sharing laughter with friends, the fun clad event consisted of several entertaining competitions and games which apparently showered innumerable gifts over kids who were beautifully dressed in Lord Krishna’s and Radha’s attire.
One minute show was organised which included many events like balloons blowing, eating butter, tie-untie yourself etc. Apart from this balancing a pot on head and a few other challenging contests were also held.
There were some awards for the student which included student with the best smile, best traditional jewellery, best dress and best hair style. The most interesting show of the day was Nat-Khat Kanha where they have to choose the naughtiest and the most active child who can depict the character of Lord Krishna.
The School Chairman, V.K Basur blessed the students on this auspicious occasion. Sweets were distributed among the students after the celebration.
Shiksha Niketan Senior Sec School on Saturday organised a function to celebrate birthday of Lord Krishna and 71st Independence Day with great excitement and enthusiasm in its premises.
Principal of the School, Rameshwar Mengi along with incharges were the guests on the occasion. The programme was commenced by the breaking of Matki at the very entrance of the school by the principal.
Then the students of Primary Wing presented group dance on a beautiful song. The arrangements were also made for the competition of kite flying in which the principal also took part.
The next item presented was related to Independence Day. The students of Primary Wing presented a group dance on patriotic song and the students of Middle and High Wing presented a patriotic group song which reminded of the struggle for freedom of our nation.
Rameshwar Mengi appreciated the participants and blessed them to show their talents with the same spirit in future also. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Nirmal Sharma, the Incharge of the School.
Jagriti Balwadi Sangam High School near Dewana Mandir celebrated Janmashtami with great fervour and gaiety. The toddlers attired in traditional dresses added colours to the festivity. A beautiful backdrop was made with little Krishna in the cradle. To remember the day, a story on the birth of Lord Krishna was narrated by a staff member to students. The toddlers enjoyed decorating Dandiya sticks and flutes. They made beautiful cards, to carry home.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Archana Sharma gave significance of celebrating festivals. She also gave brief account of life of Lord Krishna and relevance of his teachings. Coordinator of the School, Santosh Khajuria asked toddlers to become part of festivals and cultural programmes to become knowledgeable citizens of country. Later, children merrily performed Dandiya dance to the tunes of devotional songs.
