JAMMU: Various educational institutions celebrated Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna.
To mark the birthday of Lord Krishna, Janmashtami celebration was organized in JK Public School Kathua with zeal and fervour. The Krishna and Radha looked adorable in their traditional costumes and the entire area was transformed into a land of joy, celebration and happiness. Beautiful decorations were put to make this event more cheerful and colourful.
Children participated in Janmashtami celebrations by performing Dahi Handi event. Younger children wore Krishna outfit and showed their joy for the festival. Lord Krishna gives us the principle that we must focus on the solutions instead of the problems and also that where there is a will, there is a way. The school follows these principles and instructs the children to do the same too.

Doon International School celebrated Janmashtami with gaiety. The celebration started with an alluring musical act carried out by the Kindergarten students. To uplift the audience more about the righteous life lead by Lord Krishna, a speech was presented by by Maleeha Mushtaq of class 8. The students came attired up as Krishna and Radha and took out an impressive procession and danced cheerfully on the songs pictured for Lord Krishna. A ‘Matki Phodo’ event was also organized to mark the malicious nature of Lord Krishna in which the students took an active participation in inter-house competition. Out of four houses, Dedication stood first and Determination was declared as second. Principal, Dr Vikesh Kaur accredited the efforts put in by the teachers and merrily presented by the students.

Janmashtami was celebrated at Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar here. The celebration comprised of mirthful performances by the students & staff members of middle wing including dances, enactments, Bhajan recitation etc. The most pleasing moments were the enactment of the students showing the various incidents related with the birth of Lord Krishna.
The main guest of the event was Aacharya Piyush Maharaj, who inspired all to establish a society that is just, sensitive and compassionate. However, it was the “Dahi Handi” performance which was undoubtedly the most eagerly awaited moment where students formed a human pyramid to break the earthen pot, laden with curd- a ritual performed on the occasion of Janmashtami. The Director of Pushp Vatika, Risheek Mengi and the Director of RMPS, Rakshan Mengi appreciated the efforts of the students who presented a beautiful “Jhanki” of the birth of Lord Krishna . Principal, Rameshwar Mengi congratulated all the Shikshaniketains for their exhilarating performance, and spoke at length about the Karma Theory and its true meaning.

Janmashtami was celebrated in IDPS Akhnoor with great pomp and show. The Chief Guest, I.D Soni renowned educationist was received by Chairman Satpal Sharma, Dr Dheeraj Sharma MD and Dr KC Singh Mehta Principal.
Programme started with lightening of Lamp followed by series of cultural programmes presented by different houses. Chief guest appreciated school management for providing opportunities to students for displaying their talent.
