EDMC launches computer-aided learning programme for schools

delhi muncipalNew Delhi: East Delhi Municipal Corporation today launched a computer-aided learning programme for its schools, costing the civic body nearly Rs 20 crore.

Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay inaugurated the programme ‘Sashakta Bachhey’ at the EDMC’s headquarters in Patparganj here.

East Delhi Mayor Meenakshi said acquiring computer-based education and knowledge was the need of the hour.

“The computer-aided learning programme, at a cost of Rs 19.80 crore is being introduced in partnership with a private company Webel. 10 computers in each school would be connected with a server. Besides, two teachers in each school would also be trained in computer-aided learning,” she said.

Upadhyay said, “In today’s age, survival without knowing computer’s working knowledge can’t be imagined. The students of EDMC’s 200 schools would be taught with the help of computer aid.”

He also asked the students to use the technology for getting acquainted with the country and its culture.

Education Committee Chairman Harsh Deep Malhotra claimed “EDMC schools are trying to impart education better than private schools.”

“Webel would also set up a helpline to resolve any technical glitch in the system,” he said.
