POONCH: Unearthing a racket involved in sale of ration meant for mid-day meal for government schools, the Poonch Police on Monday arrested a local trader while the supplier and the school headmaster went underground.
Poonch SSP J S Johar said that 100 packets of dalia, 13 bags of ration meant for mid-day meals for students of government schools seized from a grocery shop at Surankote in District Poonch.
Acting on a specific input, the police team conducted a raid in the premises Abdul Khaliq, son of Mohammad Hussain, resident of Eidgah Marhote Surankote and seized 13 bags of mid-day meal ration along with 100 packets of dalia.
This ration was meant for Middle School Hari Safada but was unloaded at the grocery shop for sale in open market.
Abdul Khaliq. FIR 94/15 under Sections 409 and 109 RPC, and 3/7 ECA has been registered at Police Station Surankote.
Police said, “We will scrutinize the record to ascertain the consumption of ration material.
More arrests are likely to be made as children had complained that they were not being served mid-day meals for the last one year.
