Lately, Supreme Court struck down a stringent provision of the Prevention Of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) 2002 that denied a bail to an accused unless the Court was convinced that he was not guilty. This may weaken the government fight against black money. In 2002 (when the law was presented in the Parliament) Opposition called this bill ‘Draconian’. Till now 120 people have arrested by PMLA since 2005 haven’t secured a bail.
