DYSS to raise ‘Gillidanda, Santolia’ teams

JAMMU: To revive the traditional rural games, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) has decided to raise teams in ‘Gillidanda’ and ‘Santolia’ for a demonstration event, part of the Himalayan Region Annual Sports, slated to be held in Assam.
This was disclosed in a meeting of the district officers of the department held under the chairmanship of Director General, DYSS, Navin Agarwal here.
The meeting also reviewed the activities held in the past and those left of competitions at the State level. The DG asked the district officers to submit records, pertaining to the activities held at the district level without any more delay, with the Directorate.
A decision with record to snow skiing courses a Gulmarg was also taken in the high level meeting in addition to Scouting and Guide camp at Ramnagar in district Udhampur in the last week of this month. In addition, Rural Sports Mela shall take place at Hiranagar in February next.
Also present in the meeting were Deputy Directors, Kanchan Bala and Haji Mirza Hussain.
