Dy CM reviews functioning of toll post

KATHUA: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh paid a surprise visit at Toll Post Lakhanpur and reviewed the functioning of different departments working there.
Rajesh Sharma, Deputy Excise Commissioner, Toll Post Lakhanpur explained the working of the Excise Department and its correlation with the other departments like Commercial Taxes, Transport, etc. He explained to the Deputy Chief Minister that toll post, besides collecting toll at Lakhanpur, is also entrusted with the toll collection at minor Toll Posts including Nagri, Kot Punnu, Gandial, Goondh, Mandi Mandikren, Govindsar, etc.
The Deputy Chief Minister further enquired as to whether any toll exemption is being granted to Langar goods for Shri Amarnathji Yatra and observed that there needs to be an exemption for such goods, as a goodwill gesture for the efforts being put in by such associations located outside the State.
T.K Bhat, Deputy Commissioner Commercial Taxes, Check Post Lakhanpur gave a brief of the working of Commercial Taxes Check Post and conveyed that the vehicles are being cleared expeditiously after computerisation of the department.
The Deputy Chief Minister expressed concern over the parking of vehicles on the flyover (export side), connecting the State of J and K with Punjab and directed the police and commercial taxes authorities to ensure that no vehicle is allowed to be parked on the flyover, after being cleared by the Commercial Taxes Department.
Later, the Deputy Chief Minister interacted with some truck drivers who expressed their satisfaction regarding clearance of vehicles by different departments stationed at Lakhanpur Toll Plaza. He also desired an early action on acquiring the land from railway authorities in order to provide more parking space for trucks at New Toll Plaza.
