Dussehra celebrated with fervour in Kol Kandoli

NAGROTA: As the Saturday sun was about to set, a large number of enthusiastic people from various parts of the Nagrota Assembly Constituency, assembled in the magnificent field in Kole-Kandoli, watched with enthusiasm, fervour and gaiety the effigy of Ravana being put afire, marking triumph of virtue over evil, the spirit of Dussehra.
Burning effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkarna and Meghnad, were the main attractions for the people, particularly the children, on the occasion of the concluding day of nearly a fortnight- long Ramlia celebrations. In the ambience of the festivity, women, children, men-old and young-had started thronging from various adjoining villages throughout the day and the culmination of the ritual generated widespread joy and enthusiasm among the people.
Provincial President National Conference and MLA Nagrota, Devender Singh Rana was the Chief Guest.
Flanked by the senior party functionaries of the constituency, he joined the festivities and greeted the people on this occasion.
Wishing people peace, happiness and prosperity, Rana said that Dussehra reinforces the eternal message that truth and goodness will always prevail. He said this is essence of all religions which stand for truth, love and compassion.
The MLA Nagrota complimented the people for celebrating religious festivals in true spirit of the composite culture of Jammu and Kashmir and hoped that such occasions will help further strengthening bonds of unity and amity among different segments of the society.
Rana prayed for peace and tranquility in the State. He also prayed for well being of the people of all the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
