DSW JU in collaboration with NCB organises ‘Online Awareness Programme’

JAMMU: The Department of Students Welfare (DSW), University of Jammu in collaboration with Narcotics Control Bureau, Zonal Unit, Jammu organised an ‘Online Awareness Programme’ in commemoration of ‘International Day Against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking’ which falls on 26th June every year.
The webinar was attended by students, scholars, teachers and staff of the university.
Rajesh Kumar, Zonal Director NCB and Mohd Nawab, Superintendent NCB were the resource persons. Prominent among those who attended the programme include Prof. Prakash Antahal, Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Vishav Raksha, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, Dr. Pritam Singh, Assistant Dean, SW alongwith other faculty members and officers of the university. In his address, Prof. Prakash Antahal stressed upon the importance of awareness about the menace of Drugs which is gripping more and more youth in its clutches and ensured all possible help in this regard from University’s side. Rajesh Kumar presented the precise data with regards to the percentage of people affected with the ill effects of drugs in J&K in comparison with that data of the whole country and cautioned about the alarming situation.
He invoked the active participation of parents, teachers and all other stakeholders in making youth aware about the consequences of falling in the trap of drugs and other allied intoxicants.
Mohd Nawab informed about the methodology which is generally adopted by the miscreants to trap innocent youth and once getting addicted, it becomes near to impossible for them to return back to their normal life.
Prof. Vishav Raksha expressed gratitude towards the learned resource persons who made students aware about drugs and its ill effects. She also thanked the teachers, students and scholars to join this informative webinar in a sizable number which speaks about their desire to get awareness about the topic of concern. The event was organized by the team consisting of Prof. Prakash Antahal, Prof. Vishav Raksha, Prof. Sanjana Kaul (Co-Chairperson, CCC) Dr. Anil Gupta (Associate Dean SW) Dr. Garima Gupta and Dr. Pritam Singh (Assistant Deans, SW), Dr. A.R. Manhas & Dr, Shallu Sharma (Deputy Proctors), members of Campus Cultural Committee, Mansi Mantoo and Sumeet Sharma.
