Drugs Mafia: History sheeter among 2 injured in scuffle at Kings Hotel; associates flee

JAMMU: Two persons allegedly involved in drugs peddling were seriously injured in a violent scuffle under mysterious circumstances at Kings Hotel on Railway Road in the Trikuta Nagar area late last night.
The victims have been identified as Umar (26), son of Abrar and Kapil Sharma-both residents of Chowadi. According to police sources, the incident took place in room number 203, which was booked by one Ashutosh, son of Vijay Kumar, resident of Nanak Nagar, already booked in number of cases.
Police said Umar and Kapil had gone to meet Ashutosh at the hotel. During the meeting, an altercation broke out, and Ashutosh, allegedly with the help of an associate, attacked both Kapil and Umar with a sharp-edged weapons, leaving them grievously injured. The motive behind the assault remains unclear.
Both Umar and Kapil were immediately rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital Jammu, where they are said to be in critical condition. Today evening, Umar was shifted to DMC Ludhiana for specialised treatment.
Following the incident, Ashutosh and his associate fled the scene and are currently absconding. A case has been registered, and a manhunt has been launched to trace the absconders.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that both Ashutosh and Kapil Sharma have a history of criminal involvement and are reportedly associated with drug trafficking activities. Notably, Kapil Sharma had previously operated a drug de-addiction centre in Samba, which, as per police records, was allegedly being used as a front for illegal drug peddling. The centre was reportedly situated on state land and it was also demolished.
Police are also investigating the possibility of a drug-related dispute being the trigger for the assault. Senior officers have assured that a thorough probe is underway and strict action will be taken against all involved.
Police is investigating that why a local youth had booked a hotel room in Jammu City and how the hotel management allowed a local to book a room for meeting friends.
Sources said, these youth many times used to book a room here in this hotel. Police is working on various theories to bust the drugs mafia.
