Drug racket unearthed, 3 held in Bhadarwah

BHADARWAH: Police on Sunday unearthed a major narcotic trade racket by arresting three drug peddlers and recovering huge quantity of Psychotropic substance including Brown Sugar and Cannabis from their possession.
According to report, during checking near Seri Bazar Bhadarwah, a team from Bhadarwah Police observed three persons roaming under suspicious circumstances. When the aforesaid team tried to apprehend the trio, they tried to escape. However, alert police personnel apprehended them.
The accused have been identified as Owais Ahmed Dar, son of Mohd Iqbal Dar, resident of Maitra Ramban, Aqib Javed Wani, son of Javed Iqbal Wani, resident of Passari, Bhadarwah and Touib Ganai, son of Ahsan-Ullah Ganai, resident of Mohalla Haveli, Bhadarwah.
“On an information, police team recovered four small packets of Chitta (Brown Sugar) weighing 1 gram, 5 insulin syringes and cash amounting to Rs 30,000 from Owais Ahmed, Charas weighing 200 grams from Aqib Javed and Touib Ganai facilitated both the accomplice in procuring Chitta, Charas and Insulin Syringes,” said SDPO Bhadarwah Brijesh Sharma.
“The seized narcotics were meant to be sold to the youths especially students at different locations of the town” SDPO said adding that investigation is going on and we expect more arrests in coming days.
Police has registered a case vide FIR No 146/2017 under sections 8/20/21/22/29 NDPS Act at Police Station Bhadarwah and further investigation is going on.
This is the sixth recovery within a month made by police party of Police Station Bhadarwah under the supervision SHO Bhadarwah Muneer Ahmed Khan, SDPO Bhadarwah Brijesh Sharma, ASP Bhadarwah Rajinder Singh on the directions of SSP Doda Mohd Shabir Khatana.
It is notable to mention here that recently a 21 year old youth from Bhadarwah town died, reportedly due to drug abuse resulting in wide spread public anger against the drug dealers and police.
