Srinagar: Kulgam police arrested a drug peddler and recovered five kilograms of poppy straw from his possession.
A naka was established at Lawdoora by Kulgam police in their jurisdiction. During naka checking a Maruti car bearing registration number JK03-3988 boarded by two persons was intercepted. On search of the vehicle 05 kilograms of poppy straw (Fukki) was recovered. One person identified as Irshad Hussain Ganie son of Ghulam Rasool resident of Babdar Fathehpora was arrested while another person identified as Nasir Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rehman resident of Sasman, Qazigund managed to escape.
A case has been registered in this regard and investigation was taken up.
